IHHN Promotes Hearing Health on World Hearing Day with Screenings and Awareness Sessions

Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) commemorated World Hearing Day on 3rd March , aligning with the global theme, “Changing Mindsets and Empowerment for Ear and Hearing Care.” The event aimed to raise awareness, educate communities, and provide essential hearing care services through screenings and public outreach.

IHHN organized an awareness session for the elderly, mothers of newborns, and students from Indus University of Health Sciences (IUHS) to highlight the importance of early detection, prevention, and management of hearing loss. Additionally, IHHN utilized radio and television programs to expand its reach and promote hearing health awareness.

To provide direct healthcare support, IHHN conducted specialized hearing screening camps for both elderly individuals and newborns. Eight elderly patients were screened, all diagnosed with mild to moderate hearing loss and advised on follow-up care. Fifteen newborns underwent screening, with six passing the hearing test while the remaining were referred for further assessment and necessary treatment. Forty students from IUHS attended informative sessions on hearing care and the role of audiology in preventive healthcare.

The event was facilitated by Ms. Tabassum Naz, Senior Audiologist at IHHN, and Ms. Laiba Islam Rana from Al Lisan Audiology & Speech Therapy Clinics. The initiative was supported by Oriental Sales Corporation, emphasizing a collaborative effort toward accessible hearing care.

Through this initiative, IHHN reaffirmed its commitment to high-quality, accessible hearing care while fostering greater public awareness. By conducting screenings, educating communities, and collaborating with healthcare professionals, IHHN continues to empower individuals and advocate for better hearing health across all age groups.
