Ignore Presales Tech gimmicks, focus on the Op-model

Its Wednesday must be time for a new Tech consulting pre-sales gimmick....

Data Fabric - a new tech consulting term, describing the data layer in any TOGAF Enterprise Architecture design......

Data fabric is an enabler , but it isn't new, its a concept which had been with us for nearly 3 decades !!!

Its simply become a new pre-sales fad - it actually really basic common sence, all the things an organisation should do to manage and maximise its data and dont .....

And its a mind set change and not something that will add immediate value, and I guess that's why so many organisations struggle to manage and get real value from their data.

Last year I mentioned the rise of Quantum computing, not because I care (I really don't) but to simply highlight every SI and consultancy will soon start beating the drum for the need to move to Quantum

Then there will be SAP on Q and Q clouds

My top tip, ignore pre-sales when it comes to complex business transformation ,

Adopt a hybrid cloud platform strategy with an intoxicating mix of private, public and needless to say some on-prem - at some port the platfrom's will embrace Quantum and then there will be the next wave of migration programmes and upgrades, you don't need to be a rocket science, its all part of my SAP Big M theory

I'm sure by 2035 SAP will have dumped S4 for a new version of ERP with the extended SAP product range in one solution sitting on a Q cloud as a total aaS.

Second top tip, focus on the target op model not tech, in these difficult times of disruption mitigation opposed to innovation its all that really matters, make do and sweet your current enterprise applications and innovate around them with lots of small changes that drive immediate tangible benefit and sustain liquidity and ebidta.

If your Tech strategy isn't aligned to your operational strategy then your in a world of pain, investors will revolt, share value will drop, reputations will be shredded, Ebidta impacted, so ignore the presales and focus on the operating model.

From bitter experience the red flags go up when a migration to SAP doesn’t treat data as seriously as it does the business needs; too few data focussed resources and not being part of the fit to standard creates a world of pain and additional risk for the project as a whole. The best time to start looking data is normally “ages ago”

It’s all about the data, governance but the data quality. Get 100% data assurance that’s what grows businesses. I could show you on your data, on your network, what it looks like in a free PoC. Take one table, customers or suppliers, for instance. With a simple profile I can show you what state your data is in.
