Ignorant investors?

In a recent article in Nature (Feb. 12, 2019) the authors suggest that investors take a closer look at peer reviewed articles of potential targets before investing. Having analysed 47 unicorns they found no relationship between the number of peer reviewed publications and the valuation of the companies. Leading to the conclusion that investors should care more about valuable publications. Or should they?
