SAP News Over the Last Month

Here is a quick summary of the most notable news about SAP and the ecosystem from the last 30 days:

SAP Announces SAP Business Suite and SAP Business Data Cloud

On February 13, 2025, SAP hosted the "Business Unleashed" virtual event, unveiling its next-generation SAP Business Suite, a major evolution in its enterprise software offerings.?

This new suite is designed to integrate AI, data, and applications, enabling businesses to optimize operations through intelligent automation and predictive insights.

Another announcement at the event was the launch of the SAP Business Data Cloud, a fully managed SaaS solution developed in collaboration with Databricks.

This new cloud offering aims to unify SAP and third-party data sources, providing businesses with a harmonized data foundation that supports real-time analytics and AI applications.

The emphasis on AI-driven automation, intelligent data integration, and real-time decision support means that SAP professionals will need to develop new competencies in AI, analytics, and automation.

SAP Announces Extended ECC Support for Some Larger Customers

SAP has announced an extension of support for select customers running large and complex SAP ERP Central Component on-premises systems through a Rise with SAP subscription service.

This new offering, called SAP ERP, private edition, transition option, will allow qualifying customers to continue receiving support beyond the 2027 end-of-support deadline.?

The option is designed to assist enterprises in gradually shifting from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA Cloud while ensuring continuity of operations. It is not a mandatory requirement but requires companies to enter into a Rise with SAP cloud subscription agreement. The offering also includes migration support, as well as patches for security, legal, and software issues. SAP has stated that this package will be available for purchase from 2028, with active support running from 2031 to 2033.

There are specific conditions for customers opting for this package. Organizations must migrate to the SAP HANA database before the end of 2030 and may need to adjust their use of third-party tools, such as Java, which will no longer be supported. Additionally, the offering will focus on SAP ECC systems and will not cover the full scope of SAP Business Suite 7.

SAP Releases their Integrated Report for 2024

SAP’s released its 2024 Integrated Report, which, like the Financial Report last month, highlights a year of strategic transformation, financial growth, and technological innovation.

SAP achieved double-digit revenue growth for the first time since 2018, driven by strong cloud adoption and an expanded AI-first approach. The company reported a 40% increase in its total cloud backlog, reaching €63 billion, with cloud revenue now accounting for 50% of total revenue. Key to this success was SAP’s investment in Business AI, with over 130 AI use cases delivered to customers and Joule, its AI copilot, covering 80% of SAP users’ most common tasks. The acquisition of WalkMe further strengthened SAP’s Business Transformation Management suite.

Financially, SAP’s stock significantly outperformed major indices, making it Europe’s most valuable tech company with a market capitalization of nearly €270 billion. Strong performance in cloud services, alongside cost efficiencies from restructuring, fueled investor confidence. A dividend of €2.35 per share was proposed, marking a 6.8% increase from the previous year.

The report also detailed SAP’s expanded focus on sustainability, integrating ESG compliance with the new European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

SAP aims for continued double-digit revenue growth and plans to make every Joule user 30% more efficient by the end of 2025. With nearly 40,000 developers driving AI-first innovation, SAP remains committed to shaping the future of enterprise technology.

SAP Asia-Pacific Appoints Simon Davies as President

SAP Asia Pacific (APAC) has appointed Simon Davies as its new President. Based in Singapore, Davies will be responsible for SAP’s regional strategy, operations, sales, services, partnerships, and profitability. He will oversee a workforce of over 31,000 employees across 78 offices in Australia and New Zealand, Greater China, India, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia. SAP’s APAC operations support major clients, including NEC Corporation, Wipro, Fujitsu, Hyundai, and Japan Airlines.

Davies emphasized the importance of digital transformation in the region, noting that businesses are rapidly advancing their strategic initiatives with SAP’s support. He highlighted cloud adoption and business data utilization as critical enablers for growth in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, and sustainability.

With over 25 years of experience in the IT industry, Davies brings extensive expertise from leadership roles at Microsoft, Salesforce, and Oracle.
