I&G appointed to build the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease

It’s great that construction company I&G is on board with the building of the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease. As part of our blog series, I&G’s managing director, Chris Carline, explains what we can expect to see next.

"To be entrusted to build the new Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease is a huge honour for I&G, and one the whole team is really excited about. We've built and refurbished many health facilities over recent years and they're some of the most rewarding projects our team gets to work on, because we can see the huge impact they have on people's lives. Seeing the look on the faces of the nurses and clinicians who are going to be working in those facilities when they see their new environment for the first time is second to none.

"The new MND centre is the first of its kind in the UK and will house services under one roof for the first time. Patients and their families visiting the centre will receive the best possible care and support from those treating them, and we hope that having a specially designed home with a welcoming feel will ease their experience ever so slightly.

"The building has been designed to give a community feel, with a central atrium that welcomes people with a big hug. The architects have put so much thought into the layout of the space and how people with differing levels of mobility will be able to access it with ease. The building is going to be built using modern methods of construction, which means that panels are manufactured off site and then pieced together around the structural frame, so once things start going up, it'll take shape pretty quickly. If everything goes in our favour we'll be looking to finish by Summer next year.

"It's a project we can't wait to get started on and our father and son site manager team, Darren and Harry Watt, are ready to lead the team with their usual enthusiasm, care and attention to detail."
