Die Stimmung der Unternehmen in Deutschland hat sich erneut verschlechtert. Der Gesch?ftsklimaindex des Ifo Instituts (München) fiel im September 2024 um 1,2 Z?hler auf 85,4 Punkte. Dies war bereits der vierte Rückgang in Folge. Unzufrieden waren die Unternehmen insbesondere mit den laufenden Gesch?ften – der diesbezügliche Teilindex rutschte um 2 Z?hler ab auf 84,4 Punkte.
USA: Gesetzesentwurf: 30 Prozent Rezyklatgehalt in Verpackungen
Die US-Kongressabgeordneten Dr. Larry Bucshon (Republikaner) und Don Davis (Demokraten) haben einen neuen Vorsto? für ein überarbeitetes Recyclinggesetz unternommen. Unisono sagen sie: ?Unsere Recycling-Infrastruktur ist veraltet“ und ?Wir müssen den stetig wachsenden Berg von Plastikabfall auf unseren Mülldeponien bek?mpfen“. Unterstützung für das Reformvorhaben kommt von den beiden gro?en US-Verb?nden?Plastics Industry Association (Plastics, Washington, D.C. / USA) und American Chemistry Council (ACC).
KUNSTSTOFFRECYCLING: Stolperstart für EU-Einnahmen aus nicht recycelten Plastik-Verpackungen
Falsche Sch?tzungen, uneinheitliche Methoden zur Datenerhebung und – vor allem – fehlende Kontrollen: Das Urteil des?Europ?ischen Rechnungshofes über die bisherige Umsetzung der 2021 eingeführten Abgabe auf nicht recycelte Verpackungsabf?lle aus Kunststoff – ein sogenanntes EU-Eigenmittel – f?llt sehr ernüchternd aus.

PETROINEOS - Grangemouth refinery to shut in Q2 2025
Following?repeated declarations that it planned to permanently shutter its loss-making refinery at Grangemouth, Scotland, giving 2025 as a timeline, Petroineos, the 50/50 ?joint venture of INEOS (London) and 中国石油 (Beijing), has now informed the workforce that the country’s sole such facility is to be taken offline in the second quarter.

Exxonmobil: Oil giant being sued by California for alleged deception of plastics recycling claims
US petrochemical giant?ExxonMobil (Houston, Texas) is being sued by the state of California for allegedly engaging in a “decades-long campaign of deception that caused and exacerbated the global plastics pollution crisis”. In the complaint filed in the San Francisco County Superior Court, the Department of Justice alleged that ExxonMobil “has been deceiving Californians for half a century through misleading public statements and slick marketing promising that recycling would address the ever-increasing amount of plastics waste ExxonMobil produces”.
European economy: Business confidence in Germany slumps again

Bad economic news continues to pile up in Germany, and the weakness is apparently not being contained within the country’s borders. Managers at companies in Europe’s largest economy have once again expressed more pessimism about their prospects and present situations, pushing this month’s headline business confidence indicator from German economic thinktank ifo (Munich) to 85.4 points, its lowest mark since January.
