IFAB: Advancing Earth Science Through Innovation and Collaboration

With the programme's coding phase slowly coming to an end and after a couple of successful webinars with our amazing teams, we’d like to put the spotlight on those who partnered with us this year to make this edition of Code for Earth an even better one.

We are starting with IFAB - International Foundation Big Data and Artificial Intelligence for Human Development . What is it? Well, iFAB is a Foundation with over 30 private members (including large, medium and small companies, as well as major trade associations), and they are pretty big— if the “Big” in the name wasn’t a clue enough.

But let us start from the beginning.?

What is IFAB??

Promoted by the Emilia-Romagna Region, IFAB was established in Bologna at the end of 2019, in the heart of Italy's Data Valley, where one of the main European “AI factories” is being developed, based on HPC supercomputing infrastructures: the Big Data Technopole. The Foundation aims to be an independent and authoritative reference point in the global scientific and cultural debate on human development, sustainability, and new science, participating in the major national and international networks in the field of supercomputing, and acting as a “link” between technology, research, and their practical applications in the industrial and social sectors.?

The synergy with Code for Earth

The connection between IFAB and Code for Earth lies in their shared commitment to make the most out of advanced technology and research for the betterment of society and the environment. Both initiatives focus on fostering innovation and applying scientific and technological advancements to address global challenges.?

IFAB and Code for Earth are on the same page when it comes to using tech and research to make the world a better place. They're both all about innovation and applying the latest science to tackle big global issues.

Now, why does this challenge make sense for IFAB? Well, it fits right in with their goal of being a go-to source for discussions on sustainability and human development. By backing a project that pushes the boundaries of Earth science, they're walking the talk.

Code for Earth is all about open-source software development (or you can also use open-source coding), which is great for getting people to work together and come up with new ideas. That's in line with IFAB's vision of connecting tech, research, and real-world applications.

IFAB got this focus on supercomputing, right? So a challenge that uses this kind of technology for Earth sciences is right up their alley. It lets them show off what they can do and push their skills even further, especially as a partner of Eurocc Italy and the National Supercomputing Center ICSC.

Looking forward

This work on weather, climate, and atmosphere has a real impact on global sustainability. By getting behind Code for Earth, IFAB can help make scientific breakthroughs that'll benefit the environment, society, and future generations.?

Plus, sponsoring the challenge is a great networking opportunity. IFAB can connect with other big players and young scientists and professionals in Earth sciences, share knowledge, and spark even more innovation.?

Together, we're not just coding for Earth – we're coding for our future.

Earthquake 5,2M in California was predicted one week in advance using the innovative holographic fractal climate model. https://www.dhirubhai.net/posts/activity-7227058482582102016-Qio4?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop A sinkhole formation seems to be also a fractal wave's holographic effect. Extreme weather predictions turned out to be "artifacts" (unwanted side effects) of missed earthquake predictions". ***** Looking for collaborators and the possibility of further development + projects. *******
