1. The full form of IELTS is International English Language Testing System.
2. IELTS is recognised by over 11,000 organisations worldwide and is recognized by Universities, Colleges, Immigration and Employers in many Countries.
3. IELTS has four sections i.e. Writing, Reading, Listening & Speaking. The ability to listen, read, write and speak in English is assessed during the test.
4. IELTS academic test module is for seeking admission abroad in University or College and IELTS general training test module is for migration purpose. Both tests assess your English language skills in Writing, Reading, Listening & Speaking.
5. The IELTS Exams are conducted all around the year. Candidates can register for the IELTS academic exams with the IDP up to once a week or four times a month making a total of 48 fixed tests dates in one calendar year based on the number of applicants. General Training is conducted twice a month. There is no limit on the number of attempts.
6. IELTS is graded on a scale of 1-9. IELTS assesses practical communication abilities and provides with an accurate assessment of the four skills being tested.
7. The test content for IELTS is developed by an international team of experts and undergoes extensive research to ensure that the test remains fair and unbiased for any candidate regardless of nationality, background, gender, lifestyle, or location.
8. All IELTS tests in India are delivered by IDP (International Development Program).
9. IELTS is the most popular exam among Indian students.
10. It is recommended that a candidate should be 16 years of age or above on the date of exams and there is no maximum age limit for taking the IELTS test.
11. IELTS Test can be given any number of times to get a good score and use the best score band of the test.
12. The IELTS official exam fee is Rs. 16,250/- which is to be paid which is to be paid every time the candidate appears for the IELTS exams. Check the official fee at the time of applying for the IELTS test.
13. For Canada under SDS (Student Direct Stream) category IELTS test with score of 6.0 or higher in each language skill i.e. listening, reading, writing and speaking is accepted. TOEFL or PTE are not accepted under SDS category.
14. The result of IELTS is in the form of TRF (Test Report Form) which is valid for 2 years.
15. The only document required for appearing for IELTS test is passport.
16. Mock test can be given to assess the score band before giving the actual IELTS exams.
17. IELTS result is declared on the 13th day from the date of exams on the official website and takes around 10 days for TRF to reach the candidate.
18. Candidate may apply for re-mark (Enquiry on Results) within 6 weeks of the IELTS test date and choose which modules are to be re-marked, after paying the fee. Candidate will receive a full refund if the result is changed to a higher score.
19. IELTS is not difficult in itself provided prepared in a proper time and schedule and under proper coaching.
