IELTS Aspirants 'Gear Up' for Success at Back-to-Back Masterclasses in Cebu and Manila

Over 400 future test-takers attended IDP IELTS's Gear Up for IELTS seminars over the weekend in Cebu and Manila. Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, where the first leg happened, was jam-packed with 224 attendees. The second leg, held at SPACE at One Ayala (Makati City), was joined by 187 individuals.

Gear Up for IELTS seminars are masterclasses that provide a holistic approach to IELTS preparation. They cover all four sections of the exam––Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Each leg featured a three-hour session led by a renowned IELTS expert, allowing attendees to learn from the facilitators' experience and knowledge.

Renowned Facilitators

Lyster Ramos facilitated the first leg, sharing insights from her extensive experience in language education. Her lecture equipped attendees with effective techniques for active listening and reading comprehension, essential skills for improving overall language proficiency.

The second leg was led by Jessica Southgate, who has been in the ESL (English as a Second Language) industry for nearly 10 years. From her lecture, participants received practical tips and strategies for speaking and understanding English, which helps not just for the exam but also for day-to-day interactions.

Preparing for the Future

Many of those who joined the seminar need to take the IELTS for their plans to work abroad or migrate. There are also some who need it to pursue further studies overseas.

Those who plan to study abroad were also able to join IDP's Study, Explore, Soar: International Education Fair 2025, held right after the Gear Up masterclasses in the same venues. It was the biggest school fair in the country so far, providing attendees with the opportunity to get free counseling sessions and meet with school representatives from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, the US, and the UK. #
