Is this an IEEE conference? (5)
I do not know about you but for several years now I have been receiving email invitations to various conferences in China. And this time I talk about an 'International Conference on Systems and Informatics (ICSAI)' because they never respond to my inquiries for information. Instead they keep me invitating again and again. It all started some ten years ago when a "Professor Song" <[email protected]> send me his invitation. I responded by offering a proposal for collaboration with a technical university in Nanjing and/or a technical university in Lingang/Shanghai because they also seemed as organizers, but nobody replied. On the other side, all invitations were written in a way to promote the venues i.e. cities in China (mostly in wider Shanghai area), rather than to make it clear what a foreign author/guest can expect in obtaining technically during/after participating in that event. However, email subjects always suggested that conference papers would be sent for inclusion to IEEE Xplore. Somewhere around 2019 that Professor Song 'disappeared' as the email sender. Nevertheless, new email invitations continued to arrive from addresses like ICSAI 2022 <[email protected]> what suggested that the event was organized by a university in Kunming (if I am not wrong). So I continued to respond to those invitations, by using their From: or Reply To: addresses, such as for example, ICSAI 2022 <[email protected]> or ICSAI 2022 <[email protected]>. No responses at all.
In 2023, they seemed to change the venue and invited me to come to Changsha. No problem, I sent my proposal to both ICSAI 2023 <[email protected]> and ICSAI 2023 <[email protected]> (the latter was announced in their mail invitation as the Organizing Committee). Nobody responded.
In 2024, I was invited to the ICSAI event eight (8) times -up to now. As usual, no email was signed by a person (by means a member of the conference committee or like). They emailed me From: ICSAI 2024 <[email protected]> but replies were solicited at another address: ICSAI 2024 <[email protected]>. In addition, the content of the mail body suggested <[email protected]> as the address of the Organizing Committee. I replied to both. You bet, no response again.
More fun: The first four invitation emails announced August 15, 2024 as the deadline for paper submission. In addition, the fourth mail added "renowned keynote speakers, including Peng Shi, Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, Fellow of IEEE, IET, IETI, IEAust and CAA." And only a week later the fifth mail postponed the deadline to October 15, 2024.

Even more fun: I decided to analyze their website, but my browser warned me that https://www.icsai2024.org.cn/ was not secure! Not good, but maybe not so big deal if you only wanted to visit it for a short glimp. But hey, to register you would need to go to https://www.icsai2024.org.cn/registration.html (not secure as well), and from there do download a registration form (https://www.icsai2024.org.cn/download/Registration_Form_2024.docx). Furthermore, I found this instruction as rather unusual: "Please complete the registration form and upload it to the Final Paper Submission System (to be opened later)."
Oh my gosh ...
Finally, if you want to unsubscribe from their email invitations, you shall click on a provided link that is on a domain in India. I do know that China and India are mutually very friendly countries, however it all looks very strange. Any opinion?

1 个月Since my initial info on that event, those guys from ECNU (East China Normal University, Shanghai) kept me regularly 'informed' about their ICSAI 2024 event: They sent me *four* mails (9/13/24, 9/27/24, 9/29/24, 10/4/24). In sum, 12 mails in 2024 up to now. Not bad :-) And among "renowned keynote speakers ... [are] ... Peng Shi, Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, Fellow of IEEE, IET, IETI, IEAust and CAA; [and] Chin-Chen Chang, Editor-in-Chief of Information Education, Fellow of IEEE, IET, CS and AAIA". The second person was added recently. I wonder if anyone has a positive, or any other experience with that event. So do not hesitate to let me know.
