Hasn’t it dawned on you yet that hate doesn’t have any place in football?
Don’t you know what it’s like to support a team through the good times and the bad?
Don’t you know that the colour of a person’s skin has nothing to do with their ability or desire on the pitch?
Don’t you know the difference between part-time passion and full-time support?
Shame on you.?
I watched a football match last night.?
Granted, it was an important one.?
It was the kind that stays in the memory for all the right reasons…or all the wrong ones.?
It was the kind where feeling gutted if you lose comes with the territory.?
It was what you signed up for when you decided to call yourself a fan.?
No matter what club.?
No matter what country.?
But you didn’t…did you?
You threw all that out the window and put your vicious face on.?
The one you wear when the hurt you feel inside becomes the sickness you spew outside.?
The one where the players you cheered five minutes ago become the ones you heap scorn on now.?
You pressed a few keys and turned social media into anti-social media.?
And you hid behind your electronic wall and spewed out your vicious hate and prejudice.
Shame on you.??
You have no idea what it’s like to be a real fan.
You have no concept of what’s like to be a real supporter.?
All you know is that, for now, you hate any player wearing an England shirt.?
All you know is that, for now, you can say what you want and bugger the consequences.
You don’t even realise that the best part of you has lost and the worst part of you has won.?
Shame on you.?
Last night I watched a football match.?
When it started I was elated.?
When it finished I was gutted.

Sometimes that’s how it goes.?
Eleven English heroes tried their best to bring glory home. They nearly did.
They left everything on the pitch.
Here’s what could have happened…
You screamed as loud as you could and you felt bloody great because England won.
Here’s what actually happened…
You screamed as loud as you could and you felt bloody shit because Italy won.?
And here’s what should happen…
The next time England (or whoever you support) plays…you turn up and you cheer them on.?
Wherever they are.?
Wherever you are.
Whatever the result.
Because they deserve it.?
Because that’s what real supporters do.?
Get it?
Sadly, I wonder if you ever will…

3 年You are so right Bryce. It’s funny how fast prejudice comes into play after the lost of a game. I don’t get it. My favorite sportsman these days is Sir Lewis Hamilton. He’s been getting his arss kicked lately by Max Vestapen. I don’t see it as a white guy facing off a black guy. I see it as two sports men trying to better each other. At the end of the day to become a world champion you go back and work on you game to be better. It’s no different from being a great writer. As the old saying goes. Practice makes perfect. Anyway this coming weekend will be the British GT race. Let’s cheer on Lewis wheather he wins or not.
