IDF confirms Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah killed in Beirut attack (Jpost)
As I walked into the gym this morning an old lady said to me, I feel we should be getting baklava here this morning! If you don't know what that is -- as usual our top ambassador Yoseph Haddad is celebrating with it again -
My Commentary
The handling of this situation was an existential issue, and absolutely necessary. There is no question about that. These kinds of things need to be carried out with total consensus among us here in Israel, without all the personal opinions and politics we normally see. As usual our full support comes in many forms - being concerned about the situation, helping, donating, volunteering. There are still plenty of amazing people looking after our soldiers.
The other part of this is at the ideological level. Of course Israel is of the utmost importance to us and part of our purpose, but the Jewish Question still remains at large. We haven't even actually begun to get into it. Who we really are and why we're on this land together.

As soon as the war is over we will return to where we were before. Even before it's over we've returned to where we were before, and in many cases it's far worse than before.
So if us Jews have this unique tradition, history, belonging, identification - let's figure it out together. But if we don't want to - then why hate each other? There's no point to all the hate. Let's simply shut down the country and we'll each go our own way.
There are people here who have shut down their whole lives and run to their unit to protect us. There are displaced citizens from the North and the South who still can't go back to their normal lives after one year (!)
But here in the middle of Israel we act as if everything is normal - people go to the beach, go out to eat and to shows. The malls are full of people shopping, and going to movies of course. And at the same time we have people dying out there every day - people of all ages.
So what am I saying? We need to take things in proportion, because the Jewish Question is still our most acute problem. And no one is even talking about it yet.

1 个月Sooner or later we ( meaning Israeliens and Jews I suppose nowadays) have to get into what exactly? The internal focus in Israel was perhaps a bit to focused on internal problems to see the signals of the outside world preparing an attack. The Jewish question is really a loaded word. All the European countries were talking with eachother about “The Jewish Question” and how to solve it. Already years before Germany started WOII. To be honest their is No Jewish Question, there are only people who have a problem with Jews. It’s time they start reflecting towards themselves and see they are hard core racists.
No. You’re engaging in moral equivalence. This is absolutely not “OUR” hate. This is THEIR hate. Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran announce their intention every day to destroy the Jewish State. Hezbollah attacked Israel - entirely unprovoked - every day since October 8, the day after the savage Hamas pogrom of Jews and others on October 7. 100,000 Jews in the Galilee have had to abandon their homes and so much of the Galilee has been burned by Hezbollah missiles. And a majority of Palestinian Arabs tell pollsters they are delighted by the savagery of October 7 against the Jews. So let me explain to you how peace comes: when Palestinian Arabs (and other Muslims) stop teaching their children that Jews are sons of pigs and dogs and murderers and thieves, and that the time has come to make peace with the Jews.
