Identifying Your Work Values

You can safeguard your self-respect by being clear in your own mind about your values. Know that you can work from a place of integrity, even when you are working in circumstances that are not to your liking, or when you are working toward goals that you didn’t choose.

In Values-Based Resiliency in the Workplace, you'll have the opportunity to use a tool called Identifying Your Work Values. After you identify your work duties, you’ll practice recognizing how you apply your values within them.

And you'll learn about appreciating other people's values, even when they differ from your own, and being objective about how different values benefit the library.

MY HIGHLY INTERACTIVE WEBINAR:

The Modern Landscape of eAccessibility in Public Libraries

In this webinar you’ll be able to compare your library to 620+ other public libraries on key web accessibility success indicators. Learn about the supports library staff and library managers need to create and maintain an accessible digital footprint. Survey respondents include those who are already operating under an agreement with the Department of Justice Office of Civil Rights.

Reading about accessibility requirements can be dry work. eAccessibility implementation can feel burdensome or overwhelming, especially at first. Content authors who are not website administrators play a big role in compliance. What do they need to know now, and where can they find training? What can library directors do to implement eAccessibility?

Sonya Schryer Norris has worked in eAccessibility since 1999. In 2016, she led the Library of Michigan web team through a two year remediation process after a Department of Justice civil rights complaint. Sonya then consulted with public libraries when they were investigated. In 2020-2022, she conducted a survey of over 600 public libraries on eAccessibility success indicators. Sonya has taught eAccessibility online and in person to thousands of library staff in all 50 states and internationally. She has presented on eAccessibility for ALA-CORE and PLA as well as the Library of Virginia. Sonya published on the public libraries eAccessibility survey with Jared Oates, COO of Niche Academy, in Computers in Libraries.

Cost for one hour: $500. Cost for an hour and a half with information specific to website administrators: $750.?
