Identify Your Unique Value Proposition

Identify Your Unique Value Proposition

Crafting a strong Unique Value Proposition for your personal brand is crucial in showcasing #recruiters/ #hiringmanagers about why you are a right fit and an asset to their company. It sets you apart from those who ostensibly play a similar position to yours.

It is one of the most predominant differentiating factors which makes you stand out from the crowd. If you want to be in 1% of the top applicants, you need to find out what is your UVP.

Believe me, there is no way that two persons could have the same value proposition. So, you have to find out your uniquely you factor.?

To write your unique value proposition, think about finding answers to below questions-

  • What are you good at?
  • What problems can you solve?
  • How do you solve?
  • What results you can bring?

People will choose to work with you or associate with you if your unique value proposition appeals to them—employers, colleagues, clients, business partners, friends, and so on.

You can use this Unique Value Propositions if you-

  1. Want to negotiate for a promotion or salary increase?
  2. Want to get your dream job?
  3. Want to take up new projects?

Let us take an example here.

You found a job relevant to your skills and past experience during the #jobsearch. You researched well about the culture, work style and the other details about the organization. And luckily you got the chance to appear in the interview.

Think about what this position gives that you need and appreciate the most. What power skills do you have that will help you to be more effective in this position? What other marketable skills do you have that go above and beyond what is necessary for the position? Consider any component of your "uniquely you" that this position best matched with.

Now, during an interview when you elaborate the required job qualifications and you know your unique value proposition (UVP), you can articulate powerfully the relevant skills and experiences that qualify you for this role, which is pretty awesome.

Let us find out the answer of these questions one by one-

Your power skills: What are you good at?

Make a list of core skills & accomplishments that makes you a strong fit for the role.?Identify your why, your power skills (incl. tools), and your marketable skills. Select the best three to five items from it to feature in your value proposition that you have gained from past experience as well as are relevant to the current role you are applying for.

One of the best ways to figure out what you are good at, and what problems you can solve, is to reflect on past experiences. Think about times where you were able to use your skills to solve a problem or create a successful outcome. This could be anything from a personal project or a work experience.

?

Your expertise: What problems can you solve?

Once you have identified the skills and abilities you have, think about what problems you can solve with them. For example, maybe you have strong writing skills, so you can offer your services as a content writer or copywriter. You could also use your skills to create a blog or website.

?

Your marketable skills: How do you solve?

When it comes to solving problems, it's important to think about what results you can bring and how you can use your skills to achieve those results. For example, if you are a content writer, you can create content that not only looks good but also helps to drive results. You can also use your writing skills to create content that is helpful and informative, which can help to attract more customers.

?

Why you: What results you can bring?

To give a proof of what results you can deliver think about explaining how you did so in your previous roles. Showcase the successful results you brought in your previous companies and quantify it wherever possible.?

For example, with a compelling ad copy and marketing funnel, increase the sales by 50% in 6 months. To provide hiring managers an idea of the outcomes they'll have and if they hire you, use percentages and numbers to quantify how you improved the company.

In conclusion, it is important to identify what you are good at and what problems you can solve. Once you know this, you can use your skills to bring positive results and create successful outcomes.

The best place to highlight your unique value proposition (UVP) is in your solution deck, in your unique value proposition letter, in summary/objective section of your resume, during your interview, and in your LinkedIn about section.
