Identify and Mitigate Process Errors with Salesforce Recommendations

Salesforce can be too much of a system, especially for users who are just starting out. Process errors are something that’s inevitable, but can be reduced over time.

With Salesforce’s Next Best Actions, you can use the capabilities of a flow builder to show recommendations on different points where you find these errors. In this article I’m covering my personal approach to this, the following are the steps:?

1. Identifying Process Errors - For this example let’s look into a common process error that we face on a daily basis - Accounts with Open Opportunities. Well, this might not be an error, but it’s important that your sales reps close their opportunities in time. ?
2. Creating a Screen Flow - This will consist of screens that the user will be prompted when they click on the recommendation. By visiting Flow Builder inside of Setup you can easily set up a screen flow. You need to specify the logic for the data to be shown to the user. In this case, we want open opportunities, so we take all the opportunity records that are not closed yet.?

3. Recommendation Strategy: This is to surface the recommendation whenever a set of conditions are met. Here, we surface the recommendation only when an opportunity is open on the Accounts page.

4. Creating a Recommendation?- Salesforce has a built-in recommendation object for you to start creating recommendations. This is where you wanna set up the label and the infographics for the recommendation. Furthermore, you get an Acceptance and Rejection label where you can customize a button label to initiate or reject the flow. The Action lets you select the recommendation strategy flow you created to initiate the recommendation.
