WaitWhat?
What are you smoking Kev?
We are in an era where everyone is beating the drums and dancing to the music of creativity and innovation.
But what matters really, isn’t new ideas.
What matters is executing on an idea.
Ideas are plenty.
But very often it isn’t the genius who came up with the idea that’s benefiting form it.
It’s another individual or group who learned to execute on that idea.
So instead of worrying about getting a great or brand new idea that no one has thought about, how about you take an existing idea, and blow that out of the water?

5 年Yes, I completely agree with you Ken. And it's something that I had been telling my students when I was teaching marketing and business plan writing courses: in spite of what so many business books and people are telling you, you don't need a really original idea to build a successful business.? What you need is a great execution of an idea, even of a well-known one. You still have to be different, offering something special to win your customers and to keep them with you. However, that something special can be just a great customer service, or a level of customisation, or turnaround time, etc., something that is valued by your customers and what you can do much much better than your competitors.? Original ideas still can be very valuable by themselves in some specific areas, usually directly related to R&D (a revolutionary new drug or a new material developed, etc.). However, even in these cases a new innovative material, once it's developed, is already a product of execution.
