Ideas Galore…Execution missing…respect other's views

Internet has changed the world. Everyone can get a handle to any amount of information. Social Media, Video streaming channels have become new factories of idea generation. All are living in a virtual world. Lot of comments, blogs, articles, plans and business models floating around whenever you hit some random websites on the internet.

Many ideas are available to make the world a better place to live. But, despite all this, fundamental problems of water, sanitation, food, electricity, housing, education, equality, security and trafficking are getting bigger by the day.

Reason: We can come out with a big list, but the reality is that we are missing the numbers that are needed on the ground to handle these problems. Government organizations or NGOs have lot to say about their achievements in terms of numbers, but the effects are not visible on the ground. I am sure, some will write their comments on this article and come up with some exceptions. We are not talking of those exceptional initiatives which are impacting only the miniscule of the proportion that is effected by these problems. Those people with big ideas are only in the virtual world and may have never gone ahead to take up that ideas and try to impact the society. (I am not excluding myself from this category)

With this generation of internet addicts growing, we will have less and less volunteers and workers who want to really do this backbreaking work. All of these problems require people travelling and visiting these places, communities and areas to handle these issues and offer relevant solutions. Even if the initiatives are started, the time they reach the end user, the energy and effort starts dwindling. Most of the efforts are sent in doing the top level planning, advertising, showcasing the sample work and getting the attention of others to get recognition. Very few people and organizations are working selflessly to eradicate these fundamental problems from the respective areas of their work.

Can we expect something from the coming generations to this effect? It is an uphill task. Inequality in the resources each one is consuming is growing within individuals, communities and nations. Recently we have seen the growing number of incidents throughout the world where people are not able to digest the fact that others have the right to have a different worldview regarding any issue. People are shackled in their mental boundaries with iron chains of culture, religion, social customs, language prowess, education level, ethnicity, and political, spiritual and philosophical views. Sometime, I become fearful that where the world is leading to.

I think, society is becoming more intelligent and vociferous with their views with so many outlets due to explosion of social media. People are coming up with the innovative arguments and multimedia products to support their own point of view related to anything they are associated with. Bashing others on social media without any provocation has become a trend.

This somehow also relates to the underlying situation that this class of people who are not going through the tough grind or hard way to achieve are just free to vent their unpolished ideas online.

I will look forward to some concrete suggestions so that our next generations don’t become so sophisticated that they depend on robots or servants for execution of anything and find themselves helpless to do anything apart from giving ideas.

I agree with you, sir. Having an idea and executing the same takes a humongous amount of commitment. Every successful person has one thing in common, the psychology of completing the task which he/she starts. We have the freedom of speech and expression. Because of the same reason, we read a lot of viewpoints on social media. There are hashtags and trending topics everytime a new social-economic-political issue comes in front of us. According to me, the solution is not simple. When we talk of generations, it's more of a long-term goal. Every parent is different. Some are successful in their work, some are not. Some are excellent mentors by setting examples for kids, some just convey the moral values theoretically. It's the lows and highs of our life which make us what we are. NGOs, personal "good karma goals" and astrological upayaas do some good to the people under poverty and hunger. I accept we all are internet addicts. I accept volunteers will be less in coming time if same goes on. But, It is the State which takes care of every section of our society. I am sure government is taking some grand scale decisions, Pradhan Mantri Yojanas are an example of that. Respecting everyone's viewpoints, my personal solution is that we should all thrive to be a good citizen of our nation by doing our duties loyally.
