Ideal Self vs Dreaded Self
There will be a day when our true self meets the dreaded self.
The person we fear becoming
The person you see in the mirror when you are surrounded by darkness
The person you fear will rear its ugly head when you least expect it
The person who shows up when you get triggered, and it leads to a negative down cycle.
We have choices
When the dreaded self appears, you can talk back.
Acknowledge that part of you. Acknowledge the fear, the darkness that comes up but choose to stay in your place of love.
You can appreciate what the dreaded self is telling you. It is letting you know what you don't want. It's an alarm telling you the fear is close, time to take a pause and re-evaluate.
You get to choose what path you stay on - the true self (who you are when you don't let fear/ego take over) or your dreaded self (who you fear becoming).
Show your dreaded self, compassion and kindness but send it on its way.
