I have often shared that the?concept of?“work-life balance” is flawed,?stressful and misunderstood:?Nothing healthy in nature is balanced. Everything in nature is moving! There may be moments when your work takes more of your time, and others where you can concentrate more on family. Don’t try to strive for a perfect, constant balance: things change, go with the flow!

1 年Finding Joy in your Jungle is a key technique... Let ua not confuse joy and happiness, I can be unhappy but joyful... example a hard workout, or a key exam I know I need to take. This calls for the need for some level of higher purpose or strategy for our actions to align with.

2 年Thanks for tip Harriet but I hardly disagree on the "go with the flow", when a lot of people are suffering from mental health issues, discrimination at workplace, being underrecognized and under paid, we cannot just tell them to go with the flow and things will change. Neoliberals said the same about the economy, it will balances itself and we all know that is not the case. You cannot find joy in any job if you are not well paid and recognize, and you cannot be happy in life if you spend 8 hours a day unmotivated. Corporate leads needs to implement a growth culture and pay their employees fairly, rather than shift the hot potato to them, and tell them ..go with the flow. Cheers

2 年Thank you for this. The third piece of advice really resonates here . We know that "energy flows where attention goes." So intentionally looking to what brings us pleasure and what our successes are in our work and leisure can be a really useful alternative to the rather relentless focus on what needs to be improved. I'm not advocating complacency just, dare I say it, balance ??
