I’d Rather Cold Call Than Do My Admin

Hi Everyone
It struck me this morning that unlike most of the population given the choice between picking up the phone to a potential new client or sitting down to put a workbook together or do my emails, I’d pick up the phone every time.
I absolutely love speaking to new clients, being curious about them and their businesses, their aspirations for their teams and their plans for the future.
I also enjoy public speaking and delivering key notes, I know I must be mad right!
However, the thought of doing anything on Word, Excel or PowerPoint fills me with absolutely dread! I am also pretty lousy at it, to be honest, which is where my amazing team come in, thank you Megan Chapman, Hannah Williams and Meg Blake!
It got me thinking this morning about the different skills our teams bring to their roles.? We must play to their strengths and as leaders in sales or any leadership role we really must focus on what our teams enjoy and thrive in and are happy doing.
Of course I still need to do the admin and I have to dig deep to do it, but I know all too well how hard that feels for my brain, it just doesn’t work that way. It makes me irritable, unhappy and feel overwhelmed.
In the past my attempts at weekly reports, getting expense in on time and doing any sort of admin were always the area I fell short on, but I was brilliant at other things that other team members could not do.
So this week why not simply ask your team………
Use your team wisely to share their strengths and support each other in areas they find difficult.
You might be surprised what you learn and how easy it might be to support someone, like me, who really struggles sometimes with certain tasks that can hold me back from achieving great things in the areas I love.
Until next week
