I’d like to share a story with you…

As many of you are aware I am a very proud supporter and Patron of Chestnut Tree House - the only children's hospice in Sussex and South East Hampshire that provides respite for those with life-limiting conditions. Four years ago I was approached by a then 17 year old patient Rebecca Torricelli. An inspirational, dynamic young woman who has spinal muscular atrophy. Becca had always dreamt of going to university and one day work within the marketing/creative industry.

Becca approached me and asked me whether she could do some work experience with Creative Pod once she had finished university and of course I said yes! Fast forward 4 years and Becca graduated from the University of Winchester with a 1st Class Honours in Creative Writing and English Literature. An incredible achievement by anyones standards.

Two months ago Becca called me and reminded me of my promise and to be honest she couldn’t have contacted me at a worse time. Covid was kicking in, everyone in the business was working from home and I had little bandwidth to take on an intern, BUT true to my word I kept my promise and offered Becca a months work experience in our marketing team.

Becca slotted straight in. She’s bright, articulate, engaging, sassy and extremely creative. Her work is exceptional and the quality of her writing is some of the best I’ve ever seen. She’s a whirlwind, and within two weeks completely inspired the rest of the team and even our clients. Last week Becca's work experience came to end and we were all gutted to see her leave. So yesterday evening I turned up at her home, flowers in hand and was delighted to offer her a position within the business as a marketing exec.

I’m so pleased Becca accepted the role and has joined my ever growing business. She’s our fourth hire in as many weeks and she just goes to show you that if you have a dream, if you are focused, if you work hard and believe in yourself you can achieve anything you want to regardless of the hand life deals you.

As a business we’ve found a real gem and I cant wait to see how Becca flourishes and develops in the coming years. Welcome to the team Becca. Keep being you and lets kick ass!
