ICYMI Week of Feb. 13: Next steps for collaboration in Canadian health care
Canadian Medical Association
Leading a national movement of physicians who believe in a better future of health.
Last week, following a meeting between Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Canada's provincial and territorial premiers, the PM unveiled a federal health funding plan that would see $46-billion in new funding, and a 5-per-cent CHT escalator ?over the next 10 years.
Upon careful consideration, Premiers have decided to accept the health care funding proposal, agreeing to commit to improving how health data is "collected, shared, used and reported to Canadians to promote greater transparency on results, and to help manage public health emergencies."
As Dr. Alika Lafontaine told CBC News this week, "For years we've been putting additional money into the system hoping that things work out. Now, we can actually track and see with great detail whether those things are going to happen."

The next phase includes bilateral agreements, and as Dr. Lafontaine says, "the faster we can get these done, the faster we can start to see those effects filter down to the front line."

1 年Simple computer programs are available or can be created where patients can fill out questionnaires re past and family history, a list of questions - do you have a cough? Then branch out to sub questions if the answer was yes. The program can have illustrations, or in various languages and can print out a summary. I have used such and it saves time!
