An Iconic Bridge, a Town in Waiting

If someone mentions the Brooklyn Bridge, most Americans will call to mind the images of this impressive structure from movies, literature and first hand visits to New York City. Many people do not know that the Brooklyn Bridge--and several similarly constructed bridges around the Country--grew out of the efforts of John A. Roebling and his steel company, Roebling Steel.

Today, the town of Roebling, NJ is nestled along the mid-point of the Delaware River, right where it bends on the map. Life in Roebling is quite different in 2018, than it was in 1918. The smoke stacks are gone. The lines of foundry and factory workers waiting to clock-in are gone. Much of life as it was, is no more.

A few important things remain; such as the sense of connection to the past and the ongoing link that Roebling Steel has had with this community. The people that live here today commute to Philadelphia, Southern New Jersey and in some cases, even New York City. Many of these folks take advantage of the light rail system which provides direct and easy connections to PATCO and the Northeast Corridor Line of the NJ Transit.

The town holds a unique redevelopment opportunity within the former Roebling Steel site. While no firm plans exist for this property, it offers some real advantages to a visionary developer who recognizes the strength of the local community, the outstanding highway access, and the light rail stop, right at the edge of the Roebling Steel site. Within a few blocks of the Roebling Steel site (and the light rail station), there are storefronts that beckon to prospective Beer Gardens, Coffee Shops, Farm to Table dining, upscale thrift shops and other businesses which create a thriving small town vibe.

As a recent transplant to Roebling, I can see the potential here. As a real estate professional, I am looking for the right developer to work alongside and to align our efforts with the town. After all, a town that played a major role in constructing the Brooklyn Bridge holds tremendous potential for the future. I would love to play an active role in helping the town of Roebling to find a path to its next iconic moment in history.

I look forward to collaborating with you!

Excellent Kevin. I also pulled up Roebling on Google Street View, as I've not visited there. Looks like a real nice community
