Industry Capability Network - Northern Territory (ICN NT)
ICN is where major projects and companies go to find local businesses. Let ICN introduce you!
Hi all,
As the humidity starts to ramp up and dry season comes to a close, there’s been a lot happening in the Northern Territory! First and foremost I would like to acknowledge the recent election and offer my congratulations to Lia Finocchiaro and her CLP team on forming government. I look forward to working with the new Government to implement their priorities around strengthening the Territory economy and fast-tracking business growth.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing Labor Government for their work, with several key projects taking huge steps in recent times. It is positive to see bilateral support from both major parties for some of the major projects on the horizon that will see industry growth across multiple sectors, such as the Middle Arm Sustainable Development Precinct and development of the Beetaloo Basin. This month I travelled to Melbourne for the 2024 Land Forces - International Land Defence Expo. With significant defence investment earmarked for the Territory, it was important to have constructive discussions with key stakeholders about how important local procurement will be for the Defence industry in the NT.
ICN recently completed capacity mapping of the industry for Defence NT, which shows that the Territory construction industry has the confidence and capability to scale up and meet the needs of multiple sectors – check out the report here . You can also have a read of my recent piece for the Australian Strategic Policy Institute where I discuss the topic in further detail.
It was also great to welcome so many major players to Darwin for NT Resources Week in September. Bringing together stakeholders and decision makers for oil & gas, mining, clean energy and decarbonisation, the week confirmed for me that the Territory remains well placed to be at the forefront of providing energy and resources to Australia and our international partners while leading decarbonisation on our path to net-zero.
October shows no signs of slowing down either – October Business month has begun, with so much on for local businesses to grow, learn and network. Here at ICN we are hosting workshops across the Territory so please make sure to register and ensure that we can work together to maximise your opportunities through Gateway by ICN. Check out our calendar of events below in the upcoming events section! Yours sincerely,
