ICMED 2024: A Year of Innovation, Training, and Prospects for 2025

Throughout 2024, ICMED demonstrated remarkable sensitivity in addressing the needs of healthcare professionals by offering a training program that combined rigorous academic quality, a strong focus on innovation, and a practical orientation toward future challenges. Each course, whether highly specialized or more cross-functional, was designed to provide immediately applicable skills, improve operational standards in hospitals, fertility centers, and cellular transplant programs.

The section dedicated to Qualification Pathways stood out as one of the most ambitious aspects of our initiatives. The goal was not just to impart knowledge but to initiate a true cultural shift by training professionals such as Quality Managers for Tissue Institutes, Transplant Programs, Blood Banks, and Fertility Centers. These professionals go beyond merely managing quality; they anticipate changes, shaping and refining it with technical expertise, regulatory awareness, and risk management capabilities.

Continuous Training established itself as an indispensable reference point for professionals already working in the field, offering concrete solutions to the need to adapt to strict regulations, rapid technological advancements, and ever-growing expectations. Practical sessions focused on audit management, validation of information systems, GDPR application, and supervision of advanced therapies, such as CAR-T, provided clear and effective tools to tackle daily challenges more efficiently.

Among the most significant events of 2024, the Qualification Pathway for CAR-T Specialists and Gene Therapy was particularly noteworthy. This program delved deeply into critical aspects, such as managing operational challenges in cellular manipulation processes and implementing European and national regulations. Through a highly practical and collaborative approach, participants gained essential skills to meet the demands of a constantly evolving sector. This pathway played a pivotal role in making the CAR-T Specialist Registry an increasingly qualified and representative benchmark for excellence in personalized medicine.

Subsequently, we offered courses dedicated to the application of minimum standards for hematopoietic stem cell collection and Regulation 2024/1938 on substances of human origin. These training programs provided concrete and practical tools for translating complex regulations into actionable solutions.

Another key moment was the course on integrating Artificial Intelligence into quality systems, which highlighted how the synergy between human expertise and intelligent algorithms can not only transform internal procedures but also redefine professional roles. This event paved the way for a new paradigm in quality management, demonstrating how technological innovation can become a critical factor in organizational evolution.

The final event of the year, the December 20 course on Maintaining the Competencies of Quality Managers in Fertility Centers, concluded 2024 with a practical and operational focus. During this session, participants strengthened their skills through guided interactions, exploring tools and methodologies to ensure high standards.
