ICCPM Update
The news is out.......Look Here
Our December issue of Connect is out now for your holiday reading pleasure, and with it comes the inevitable sharing of news. This time for me it's personal.
As with all good things at some stage change is inevitable and it is now time for me to step down from my role in leading ICCPM as the CEO and hand over to the next person who will be charged with taking the organisation forward. I believe that I have done what was asked of me by the Board in stabilising and consolidating the organisation and it is now time for me to move on to the next challenge in my career. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as the CEO of ICCPM with all of the ups and downs (I must say more ups than downs!) and I commend the organisation to you. I hope that you will all support Collin Smith as he steps up into the role of CEO, initially in an acting capacity, as you have supported me. This change takes effect on 2 February 2018.
What I have noticed this year more than expected is the increased level of acceptance in the management community (including project management) that this idea of complexity that we have been talking about for the past 10 years is actually a thing, I believe we have reached the tipping point. The participation in our education delivery is a testament to that view in that people are recognising that they need a different set of skills to enable them to work more productively in their environment that is increasing in complexity constantly. We now have a significant number of people who have participated in our programs, over 300, with a good number actually completing the assessments and receiving their certificates. Further, we were so very pleased to be able to spend time with over 150 AIPM members at their Annual Conference when we hosted the Complex Projects Summit, again a strong demonstration specifically from the PM community. Internationally the success of roundtable events speaks volumes to the willingness of our community to give of themselves in order that others may learn, and my sincerest hope is that such support continues.
I firmly believe that I leave the organisation in a very strong and positive place and as with most things timing is everything.
To my wonderful staff Collin, Ian, Diane and Marissa (new to us and is a powerhouse of communications and marketing energy!) and to those who have gone before, Thu, Kate, Cathy, Erin, and Corrine I am so very grateful to have had such dedicated and committed people to work with during my time leading ICCPM, you should all be very proud of the contributions you have made toward making the organisation a great success.
In the magazine we have included some thoughts from people on where they hope ICCPM is in 10 years time, be great to get your opinion on this as well!
As for where I'm going, I'll update you on that in time, need to make sure all the 'i's' are dotted and the 't's" crossed, that won't take long.
