Cricket breathes in Pakistan. Whether it is PSL or an international ODI, the nation enjoys every thrilling event to the core of its heart.
However, this year in MCG ground, two arch-rivals faced each other to win ICC T20 Men’s Worldcup 2022. Pakistan versus England was not only a match between the two best teams of Worldcup but also between the best bowling and batting lineup.
The match started when England won the toss but chose to bowl first. This was an intelligent decision by captain Jos Buttler that ultimately led the team to win the match. Since the ground was not in favor of countless and bouncy boundaries, Pakistan scored a small total of 138 in 120 balls. Sam Curran’s 3 for 12 from his four overs helped contain Pakistan to 137 for 8. The score was difficult to defend, but our bowling attack was insane.
While England played, an unbeaten fifty from Ben Stokes sealed the victory by five wickets with one over to spare. They made 29 runs in the first four power-play overs. Other than that, An injury to Shaheen Shah Afridi ruled him out of the Pakistan attack, having bowled just 2.1 overs as England claimed the day.
In a nutshell, the audience witnessed a jaw-dripping play from each side of the team.
Tim Wigmore tweeted: “ T20 Cricket at its absolute best”
For the record, England is the first men’s team in history to hold both the 50-over and 20-over World Cups simultaneously.
