ICC & IIT Kharagpur Water & Wastewater Innovation Conference: A Watershed Moment!

We are thrilled to share the exciting highlights of the recent Water & Wastewater Innovation Conference & Workshop, jointly organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur .

Held on September 29th and 30th, this event was a convergence of bright minds, passionate innovators, and industry experts, all dedicated to addressing the pressing challenges of managing water and wastewater.

Day 1: Illuminating Insights and Interactive Sessions

The event commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting by esteemed dignitaries, setting the stage for two days of knowledge exchange. Prof. Rintu Banerjee , Dean of Research and Development at IIT Kharagpur, welcomed the participants with his insightful remarks. The keynote address by Mr. Aankur Biswas , Chair of the ICC Water Committee, and other distinguished guests, ignited the spirit of innovation.

Day one featured four engaging sessions, each contributing to a holistic understanding of water and wastewater management. Corporate giants like Ion Exchange India Ltd , Thermax Limited , WIN Foundation , etc. shared their expertise through compelling presentations. Meanwhile, various startups showcased their groundbreaking innovations, highlighting the sector's potential for transformative change. Poster and breakout sessions allowed for in-depth exploration, and panel discussions encouraged candid conversations about the challenges and potential solutions.

A highlight of the day was Swach Environment Private Limited 's announcement of a generous grant of Rupees 10 lakh to the startups with the most promising innovations. The virtual participation of Dr. Pawan Labhasetwar from the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) and Dr. Dr. Nupur Bahadur from TERI - The Energy and Resources Institute added valuable insights to the panel discussions.

The day concluded on a high note with WIN Foundation recognizing the best startup and an inspiring address by Mr. sourav daspatnaik , Managing Director of Swach Environment Private Limited .

Day 2: Bridging Theory and Practice

The second day dawned with an enriching field experience, where participants witnessed pilot projects developed by IIT Kharagpur. This hands-on encounter allowed attendees to grasp the practical aspects of water and wastewater management.

Brief presentations by innovators further deepened the understanding of cutting-edge solutions. The day culminated in an engaging question-and-answer session, where participants had the opportunity to interact directly with experts.
