ICA launched a new website
The Integrated Care Academy (ICA) launched its new website on the 11th of April. The new site,?integratedcareacademy.org.uk?has functional and accessible features to easily navigate the ICA’s suite of offerings across its six programmes: Research, Leadership, Workforce, Education, Digital, and the Co-production Hub.
“The new website is one of our important tools to communicate the work we have been doing with our partners. It features our programmes, research projects, events, courses, and co-production hub opportunities,” Pro Vice Chancellor (Health) Dr Paul Driscoll-Evans, said.
The new site is also the home of the ICA’s knowledge hub where research publications, media releases, quarterly news bulletins, annual reports and other important resources are regularly posted.
“Our new website is part of our strategy to further deepen our engagement with the communities we serve. The new website is a mobile-friendly platform that is accessible to different browsers and devices,” Dr Driscoll-Evans added.
The website also makes it easier for those who are interested in becoming a part of the ICA, to collaborate and participate in various projects and activities by registering through the?Be Part of ICA?page.
ICA offered scholarships for Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Practice – Integrated Care
The ICA offered fifteen scholarships for the University of Suffolk (UoS) Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Practice – Integrated Care. The successful applicants will undertake?Effective Leadership in Integrated Care, Communication and Coaching in Integrated Care Delivery, and Public Health and Epidemiology?modules. The scholarships are funded by Health Education England. The PgC starts in May 2023.
“We searched for a diverse pool of candidates for this programme that will enable them to contextualise, lead and transform integrated care services to enhance quality outcomes for people, professional and organisations”, Associate Professor, Dr. Rachel Heathershaw, said.
Co-production Hub facilitated co-production training at Mid & South Essex Maternity Voices Workshop
On the 24th of February, the ICA Co-production Hub facilitated a co-production training at the Mid & South Essex Maternity Voices Workshop. The training was attended by over sixty delegates across the ICS, comprised of midwives, doctors, volunteers, consultants, and heads of departments. All attended the training to improve health inequalities across maternity services using the power of co-production.

Participants reported that the event had a “good mixture of discussions, group work and presentations”, “good engagement from attendees”, and “knowledgeable and dedicated speakers”.
The ICA Strategic Lead for the Co-Production Hub, Joan Skeggs, stated, “we are thankful and delighted with the outcome and feedback we received from the delegates of the training. The one-day event was packed with informative presentations, discussions, and conversations about the importance of co-production in maternity services and organisations”.
One Team Programme received exceptional feedback
The One Team Programme runs from September 2022 to May 2023. One of the programme’s aims is to improve understanding of how the wider health, care and wellbeing system works. The delegates are grouped into cohorts of twelve with one cohort for each Integrated Neighbourhood team.
In February, the One Team Mid-Programme Evaluation Report was released. According to the report, 97% agreed that they have benefitted from attending the programme. 100% agreed that the quality of the facilitation and teaching is excellent, while 90% agreed that the programme has enabled them to work in partnership with other delegates.
“Strategic approaches, leadership styles, conflict management, making meetings meaningful” were all aspects that were acknowledged as helpful by participants of the programme. Another delegate commented that “facilitators are so encouraging and knowledgeable”.
“The latest evaluation results is a testament that the One Team Programme is making a positive impact to our delegates and helping them work with other people effectively while building their leadership potentials,” Professor Mark Shenton, Leadership Head, said.
Students offered scholarships for the MBA Integrated Care modules
In collaboration with Health Education England and Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board, the ICA has offered PgC scholarships to successful applicants. The scholarships were awarded to students to undertake modules in “Health Care and Integration” and “‘Leadership and Organisational Behaviour“, which form a part of the Suffolk Executive MBA.
“We take pride in how we deliver the integrated care modules at the ICA. The teaching and learning are based on interactive lectures, seminar reflections and discussions.” Students heard from ‘Experts by Experience’, those delivering integrated care, to provide opportunities to learn from their learning. Many thanks to those who contributed to the sessions,” Dr. Rachel Heathershaw, Associate Professor, shared.
Co-production Hub explored a co-production ‘Network of Networks’
In early February, the ICA Co-production Hub facilitated a ‘Network of Networks’ event on the concept of co-production. The discussion considered different ways of making new and existing networks feel more collaborative, creative, and positive about the way they work. Forty-seven delegates participated, many coming from areas of health, as well as community services, and the education sector.
Discussions highlighted key areas that a network of networks could be helpful for, including greater collaboration, increased sharing and learning, and better reach. Delegates also suggested some ideas and activities to make this possible through digital tools, frequent meet ups, events, coaching support for people with lived experience, among others.
