Neale Armstrong - Certified Consulting IT Specialist, IBM Australia

Have you ever thought about packaging data as a service ?

There are many ways of delivering services and APIs to provide integration between cloud applications and mainframe systems. Most of the approaches are focused on delivering access to programs or transactions. But sometimes it can be better to access the data directly.

This session will review a number of ways to package mainframe data as a service, and provide some examples of when this is a more attractive approach.

Edward McCarthy - AP Z Websphere Architect, IBM AP Software Group

Provisioning of key components on z/OS such as Db2, CICS and MQ can seem at times to be the domain of a secret group of wizards in your organisation, who have mastered the darks arts of 3270 green screens, ISPF and JCL. And once these wizards have agreed to set up a CICS region etc for you, you're next quest is to conquer the impenetrable maze of the dreaded change control process. Meanwhile in distributed environments, developers are using a browser based GUI to quickly provision development and test servers and resources at the click of a button.

In this session we will explain how z/OS Cloud Broker provides the capability to enable cloud based environments such as Red Hat OpenShift to quickly provision z/OS resources such as CICS, z/OS Connect EE in the same way as other cloud resources, and how this can help speed up the deployment of changes to your business applications running on z/OS.
