IBM SAPathon 2022 Winners

Last week 11th Nov 2022, we were honoured to announce the top five winning teams from our IBM SAP hosted SAPathon 2022 event.??

We were impressed with the sheer scale of innovative thinking and dynamic cutting-edge solutions developed on SAP BTP for Sustainability use cases. We kicked off this exciting initiative in June with 17 themes around Sustainability in the SAP ecosystem. ?131 ideas were reviewed, more than 30 education webinars hosted by IBM and SAP, and 3,000 developers engaged across the IBM Global SAP Practice, resulting in a down-select to the top 15 innovative ideas which were developed into use cases in record time.

The result

Teams were able to convert high level Sustainability ideas into tangible use cases using innovative technologies that we can take to market as part of our broader SAP offerings to help bring immediate value to our customers as they embark on their S/4HANA transformation journeys with Sustainability-by-design.?

The Winning Teams

I am proud to share our Top 5 winning innovative solutions and use cases along with the team members who designed them:

#1: Sustainable Biofuel & Green Certification

Solution focuses on the design of a ‘sustainable supply chain’ of feedstock, raw materials, green certifications, and the trading of bio-credits and carbon credits.?

?#2: Model CO2 of Business Process

Solution focuses on using process discovery, process mining and process optimization tools to enable more efficient execution of a business process across platforms that impact CO2 emissions.? Winning team members: Stani Baxter , Deb Deep Ray Annalena Schnell supported by our client stakeholders

#3: Production waste as a resource

This innovative solution focused on production waste as resource as we develop solutions that encourage better Reuse and Recycle methods, moving one step closer to achieving Circularity in the supply chain and a more sustainable environment. Configuring the Waste materials in the Bill Of Material (BOM) of the main product as a negative quantity gave us the amount of waste generated automatically, while planning the main material using S/4HANA PPDS. In turn these waste materials can be used in other material production as a component. Winning team members: Aarthi Basker , Priti Kumari, Nanda Joshi- Deshmukh , Ruchira Ghosh and Raman Roy

#4: Sustainable Green Score

Solution focuses on the Retail and Fashion industry, developing a scoring method for products by season, location, and country for apparel, and friendly packaging using critical KPIs with automated insights for planning improvements using AI/ML. Winning team members: Sejal Sonchhatra , Preeti Singh , Arpita Biswas , Jenibalet S , Shubhangi Deshmukh

?#5: Sustainable Delivery Marketplace

Solution focuses on the design of a common portal termed as “Green Mart” for B2C/B2B entitles to enable delivery partners to choose their “deliveries” and group deliveries for customers using AI/ML features. Winning team members: Dharma Atluri , Rashmi Joshi , Divya Bansal , Santanu Ghosh , Shubhangi Deshmukh

Key take aways

Each of these teams have clearly pushed the frontier of innovation by taking SAP solutions to the next level with enhanced Sustainability capabilities, thereby increasing the business value to clients along their journeys to S/4HANA Digital Core. ?
