IBM and RISE with SAP a perfect match

SAP’s CEO, Christian Klein’s recent announcement of their new RISE with SAP offering aligns exceptionally well with the IBM Services portfolio for SAP that underpin the transformation lifecycle.   It’s all about accelerating our customers transformation from traditional process behaviors to intelligent outcomes.

There are many points that were announced in RISE with SAP. One fundamental point is that RISE is based on the conversion of On-Premise to Cloud licenses – running the new Intelligent Transformation not just on SAP Private Cloud Edition (PCE), but also leveraging S/4HANA Cloud, the CloudERP versions of SAP.

So, why is IBM excited about this RISE with SAP announcement. First of all, the announcement fits perfectly with IBM’s core strategy of helping customers become Cognitive Enterprises powered by Hybrid Cloud, and it was good to see the inclusion of IBM Cloud also as part of the providers of (Private) Cloud services. IBM has for many years been leading the market in running SAP on Private Cloud solutions, so we offer our customers the leading insights on how to make this successful transformation based on RISE.

Secondly, it builds on the Evolution Partnership announcement with SAP we announced last June, which is centered around how we collaborate to help our customers shift their focus from not only thinking about the move to SAP S/4HANA, but how we go beyond the core and enable Intelligent Enterprise transformation. 

The SAP RISE offering will accelerate the shift to intelligence using SAP not just as the core ERP, but with SAP solutions like Business Technology Platform (BTP), to provide the PaaS capabilities to infuse intelligent automation and deliver end to end process insights.  

In our partnership with SAP, we co-created the Essentials Platform.  Based on the SAP BTP, augmented with IBM technologies, the Platform helped to: 

-       Make SAP smarter through the use of Data and AI, creating Data Architectures and Insights that are embedded into the everyday use of SAP

-       Allow for simplicity through the enhanced use of Automation so that users can evolve from processing tasks to applying their Industry and Process knowledge to add higher levels of value in key business decisions

-       Connect SAP with the other required applications needed in the end-to-end process and drive the Process Model to Process Mining and Continuous Insights, based on the use of SAP Cloud Platform Workflow Management
