IBM FasTTrack AI with OpenPower
The OpenPOWER workshop on PowerAI hosted by the NHCE on 19th of December 2017. The Program, led and managed by Ganesan Narayanasamy.
Introduced a wide range of specialist topics ranging from IBM powerAI, deep learning, machine learning, tensorFlow frameworks, Image classification with example.
In this session an introduction to OpenPower foundation was delivered. This included an overview of the cooperation of over 300 institutions ranging from academia to industry as well as a more in depth look at some of the success and developments currently underway within the OpenPOWER framework. The Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility provides the open scientific community access to America’s fastest, most powerful supercomputer and is a key member of the OpenPOWER Founation. Also included an outline of the conventionally used qubit technologies as well as an indication of the current status of the quantum computer projects underway at some of the lead player institutions including IBM, Microsoft and NASA. Some interesting concepts introduced included the recent developments of the high fidelity topological qubits and included an thorough introduction to the various techniques used for image recognition, deconstruction and filtering in order to provide valuable input for Deep Learning applied to radio- astronomy.
The final session of the workshop was driven by college alumni who hosted a crash course in Deep Learning.
The session involved setting up the framework and exploring an actual problem. All relevant resources were provided through IBM PowerAI. The success of the session was demonstrated through the highly interactive atmosphere and the number of individuals who were able to successfully grasp the knowledge.
We Thank Ganesan Narayanaswamy for speaking to the New Horizon Alumni . We are grateful for the time and effort you took to share your thoughts and experiences.
Your comments were very timely. We believe we can benefit immediately from the methods you suggested.Your enthusiasm is contagious, and we hope to use your suggestions.
Thank you again for your contribution.
