IB Insider #8: Welcoming our new students

Induction week at Imperial College Business School was a great opportunity to welcome our new students to campus to begin their life-changing experience. This Insider gives you the rundown of how we kicked off their academic year, setting the tone for an exciting journey ahead.

So, we started by taking over South Kensington tube station with our Where Worlds Collide campaign.

This was a great welcome to the new students, empowering them to tackle these challenges headfirst throughout their programmes with us. This theme continued into their Welcome Day at the Science Museum (we took over the whole museum for the day!) where our students had inspirational speakers from across the College providing them the insights into what makes 英国帝国理工学院 so special. ??

To highlight a few, we had Professor Michele Dougherty , the space physicist, discussing the unmanned exploratory mission to Saturn and Jupiter she is leading, and Philip Sandwell , a member of the UN’s Institute for Training and Research, exploring the potential of renewable technologies to bring electricity to rural communities in developing countries.

Across the past two weeks, students have been diving into their induction activities which range from away day team building sessions, breakfasts with their advisory boards, to career workshops on the path forward. All the time, networking and starting to form strong bonds with their peers and classmates.

London is beautiful at this time of the year as the season starts to change from summer to autumn. With Hyde Park a two-minute walk from campus and the Student Union even closer, it’s a great time to become a student again.?

It would be amiss if I didn’t share a couple of other Insider pieces that have occurred since I last peeked inside Imperial:?

Thought leadership bonus ??

Interim Dean, Professor Franklin Allen , shares his thoughts on China’s economic success story .

Going forward, the IB Insider will fall back to a monthly newsletter sharing all the interesting and innovative happenings across Imperial and the Business School.?
