IB Insider #1 - January 2023

I am excited to share our first edition of the?#IBInsider , a monthly highlights email from me, designed to give you a flavour of what it’s like to be part of this incredible Imperial College Business School community.

So, where do we begin!??Perhaps from the start of the year, when we welcomed our?latest cohort of the?Global Online MBA ?to campus for their induction. For this truly 'global' group (representing 54 nationalities) it was a chance to network, build connections, and remember what it's like to be a student again!

Moving into?mid-January, we had?a delegation at?Davos , led by Dean Francisco Veloso and Professors Christopher Tucci & David Shrier . There, we were awarded an?FT Responsible Business Award for sustainability leadership , a real honour and nod to our trailblazing work in this area.?Back on campus,?we took over the?Natural History Museum to celebrate our global community of students, staff, and alumni, and kick off the Spring term in style – this is always a highlight of my year.

As if that wasn't enough for the first month of the year, we launched our?Imperial Many Minds Podcast, which brings faculty and alumni together to discuss solutions to topical issues. First in the series is Enrico Biffis , Associate Professor of Actuarial Finance, tackling?What global climate change models are missing .

An equally hot topic (and one I'm sure you've already read about!),?Chat-GPT?is leaving many wondering if 2023 will be?the year of AI education . The Dean has been discussing?Chat-GPT with the Financial Times ?and our newest initiative in #AI ,?I-X is launching with a live event in February .
