IAR News Update October
Fastest PX5 RTOS, even faster with IAR
When built with IAR’s compiler, PX5 RTOS—the fastest RTOS in Jacob Beningo's RTOS 2024 Performance Report—achieves even higher speeds.
Already performing up to 7.2 times faster than the lowest-ranking RTOS in the report, PX5 gains an additional 30% performance boost when powered by IAR.
Explore how leveraging an RTOS, like PX5, combined with IAR's certified toolchain, simplifies the path to functional safety certifications and boosts system reliability.

New course in IAR Academy:
Understanding and monitoring the stack for system reliability
This course covers what a stack is and how it is used for temporary storage of information that supports calls to and returns program functions. It does this by pushing or popping addresses and variables used by a called function during its execution.
We also examine some practices that can improve stack size, such as avoiding printf, passing large structures by reference or pointer rather than all the values, and limiting the number of arguments passed to a function. We'll finish with demonstrations of various ways to measure stack size, detect and compensate for overflows.

Insights from the IoT Security Foundation Conference
The IoTSF Conference in London welcomed cybersecurity and security experts who discussed the rising risks associated with the increasing number of connected devices. ?
One of the most striking statistics shared during the conference was that cybercrime is now larger than the combined GDPs of Germany, the UK, and France, and is projected to surpass China’s GDP within this decade. This growing threat underscores the importance of robust security measures, particularly as IoT devices continue to increase across industries.
