IAQG Requirements and Guidance for Aerospace and Defence Industries

IAQG Requirements and Guidance for Aerospace and Defence Industries

The??International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) sets the standard for quality within the worldwide supply chain of the aviation, space, and defense industries. IAQG develops and maintains various standards and requirements to ensure a high level of quality throughout the supply chain.?

IAQG develops the following types of requirements?

  • Requirements to harmonize the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Requirements to assess and certify Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Requirements and guidance to Improve Product Integrity

Requirements to harmonize the Quality Management System (QMS)

Most of you heard about requirements to harmonize the Quality Management System (QMS). The following are the?

9100: This is a quality management system standard specific to the aerospace industry. It is based on ISO 9001 and includes additional requirements to meet the unique needs of the industry. The purpose of this standard is to ensure that organizations have a robust quality management system in place to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.

9110: This standard focuses on maintenance organizations, providing requirements for their quality management systems. It ensures that these organizations can consistently provide safe and reliable maintenance services for aircraft and related components.

9120: This standard is designed for stockist distributors in the aerospace industry. It outlines the requirements for a quality management system to ensure that distributors consistently provide products that meet customer and regulatory requirements.

9115:?This?standard is a supplement to 9100. The standard provides software specific clarification of requirements associated with products and processes that support design, development, and deployment of deliverable software for the Aviation, Space and Defense community. This?standard?is intended to be used when planning the deployment or evaluating an organization’s process activities that support deliverable software products, processes and/or related services.

9125: (WIP)?This?standard is a supplement to 9100.?This standard defines the requirements for the effective control of non-deliverable software. This standard can be used during the design, development, test, production, release, use, maintenance, and retirement of non-deliverable software. This can include non-deliverable software procured from external suppliers and utilized in the design, production, evaluation, test, acceptance, or calibration of a deliverable product.?

Requirements to assess and certify Quality Management System (QMS)

Requirements to assess and certify Quality Management System (QMS) is more relevant and related to the certification bodies and their accreditation bodies. These standards are designed to ensure consistency, effectiveness, and credibility of the certification process

9101?:?Quality Management Systems Audit Requirements?for Aviation, Space, and Defense Organizations - This document standardizes the requirements for conducting and reporting of Quality Management System (QMS) audits. It can be used by aviation, space, and defense organizations at all levels throughout the global supply chain.

9104/1: Requirements for Aviation, Space, and Defense Quality Management System Certification Programs. This part is applicable to:

  • Accreditation Bodies (ABs): Organizations responsible for accrediting certification bodies (CBs) that will audit and certify aerospace industry organizations.
  • Certification Bodies (CBs): Organizations responsible for auditing and certifying aerospace industry organizations to the applicable AQMS standard.
  • Aerospace Auditors (AAs) and Aerospace Auditor Authentication Bodies (AAABs): Individuals and organizations responsible for authenticating auditors who perform AQMS audits.

9104/2: Requirements for Oversight of Aerospace Quality Management System Certification/Registrations Programs. This part is applicable to:

Industry Controlled Other Party (ICOP) Oversight Organizations: Groups responsible for the oversight of the AQMS certification process to ensure compliance with the AS 9104 series requirements. ICOP organizations include the IAQG and regional sector management organizations like the Americas Aerospace Quality Group (AAQG), European Aerospace Quality Group (EAQG), and Asia-Pacific Aerospace Quality Group (APAQG).

9104/3: Requirements for Aerospace Auditor Competency and Training Courses. This part is applicable to:

  • Aerospace Auditor Authentication Bodies (AAABs): Organizations responsible for authenticating aerospace auditors based on their competence and training.
  • Aerospace Auditors (AAs): Individuals who perform AQMS audits and need to meet the required competence and training requirements.
  • Training Providers: Organizations that develop and deliver aerospace auditor training courses to meet the requirements of AS 9104/3.

In summary, the AS 9104 series is applicable to accreditation bodies, certification bodies, aerospace auditors, aerospace auditor authentication bodies, industry-controlled oversight organizations, and training providers involved in the AQMS certification process for the aerospace industry.

Requirements and guidance to Improve Product Integrity

The intention of this article to the list the IAQG Requirements and guidance to Improve Product Integrity. These Requirements and guidance are contractually flowed down by the Aerospace and defence companies to their suppliers and sub-tier suppliers or Voluntarily committed by the company.?
