IAEM Region 1 Sends Letter to NH Gov. Chris Sununu

Yesterday the International Association of Emergency Managers Region 1 sent a letter to Governor?Chris Sununu?urging the swift selection and appointment of a qualified emergency management professional to the soon-to-be vacant position of Director of New Hampshire Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HSEM). This letter extends the important work of IAEM to further professionalize emergency management across the nation through our active participation and leadership in the development of the Principles of Emergency Management, the Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) Credential, the furtherance of emergency management higher education programs and the academic discipline of emergency management, the Next Generation Core Competencies, the Emergency Management Professional Program (EMPP), and the Code of Ethics and Professional Standards of Conduct for Emergency Management Professionals. The letter provides an overview of the knowledge, skills, and abilities recommended for the role, and recommends that the candidate currently hold or be able to obtain the CEM credential.?This credential represents a respected standard of experience and professional advancement in emergency management. The people of New Hampshire deserve that level of expertise and commitment from their top emergency management leader in the state.
