Hometown: Boerne, TX
University of Education: University of Texas San Antonio
How long have you been an IAEE member? 12 years
How did you start your career in this industry?
I started working in hotels in college and then worked for a hotel management company in the accounting department. I made the switch to trade shows via the accounting department and am still loving the industry as I have grown within it.
How has IAEE shaped your career?
I have learned so much and gotten to know and network with so many people that I wouldn't have met otherwise. It started by going to Expo! Expo! then getting my CEM. Having people to brainstorm and share with within the events industry is a game changer for me.
Fun fact about you - What is one thing most people don't know about you?
I majored in Geography in college. I love a good map which has transitioned over to drawing floorplans and enjoying traveling and planning events across the globe.
What do you like most about Expo! Expo!?
I love reconnecting with everyone in the industry and getting new ideas. It helps you get renewed for a new year ahead. In this ever-changing and quickly changing new normal, it is crucial to have a network such as IAEE, in my opinion.
Without using a specific company name, what new technology on the market can you just not live without? Why?
This question is very interesting as it has changed many times over the last year. Before last spring I was looking at technology to make the attendees' and exhibitors' experiences better, more interactive with each other, easy to use and offer a way to connect before and after the conference. Then, last spring while planning our fall conference, we had to pivot, and it was a virtual platform to survive and thrive in the new virtual world. Now I am exploring what technology/products I will need to Safely reopen our conference in person. So, although it continues to change, currently I would say a strong hybrid platform with attentive and innovative service.
