IAC Unveils Couture Gown Crafted from Sustainable Automotive Materials for North American International Auto Show Event

For the 2022 North American International Auto Show, we at IAC Group wanted to combine our sustainable materials used in our automotive products with the world of fashion. Thanks to the global effort of engineers, designers and trimmers, the gown designed by chief administrative officer Iwona Niec Villaire was created to showcase the innovation and quality of IAC Group’s products at the Charity Preview Event.?

At the event, Villaire herself will be wearing the gown. “This gown exemplifies how beautiful sustainable products can be, and I’m honored to have been chosen to showcase IAC’s creativity in such an exciting way,” said Villaire.

Susan Kozora, director of advanced engineering and Michael Behnke, director of innovation and advanced technology in Europe took on the responsibility of choosing the materials for the gown. The body of the dress is made of Dinamica?, a microfiber fabric manufactured from recycled polyester, that IAC uses in the vehicle headliners it manufactures in the US and Europe. The flowers that adorn the gown are made from plant-based cork and laser wood coverstock. Lastly, the earrings are made from a combination of recycled nylon harvested from discarded fishing nets and recyclable mold in color plastics.

The task of turning these materials into the gown was skillfully completed by IAC Group’s team in Opole, Poland. Junior trim engineer Urszula Olkiewicz took the materials and developed Villaire's design to create the final dress. Both Olkiewicz and sewing production operator Olena Korolova expertly sewed our sustainable materials into the beautiful gown you see today.

“This gown exhibits the collective skills, expertise and attention to detail our teams at IAC Group have for each and every product we touch. Our seamstresses are on par with those whose work is dawning the runways of New York this week for fashion week,” said Villaire.

The global effort took 16 weeks from conception to completion. Thanks to everyone involved at IAC Group!
