IaC and AI: What to Expect?

IaC and AI: What to Expect?

Welcome back to a new newsletter edition!

So, if you are here, cause you're thinking of relying solely on AI for Infrastructure as Code (IAC), you might recommend hitting the brakes a bit.?

I mean, using tools like Terraform is not too tricky – the documentation is pretty awesome, unlike AWS CDK (we will talk about it in another edition).

But here's the scoop:

Now, here's the thing: cutting costs is cool, but if you're thinking of ditching the experts to save a buck, that might not be the smartest move. Trust me on this one.

Understand that AI is a tool to make IaC even better, not a replacement for a solid base.?

Let's explore the future of IaC together with AI.

As you use these tools more, you'll figure out the best ways to use them. But, keep in mind that AI might confidently give answers that might not fit your situation.

Consider automated debugging, where AI guides engineers in troubleshooting issues. Or failure forecasting, which alerts you of problems before they become disasters. Even intelligent post-incident bots can update stakeholders, suggest solutions, and communicate with users as needed.

Hence, the future appears promising:

  • Cloud services vendors need to stay innovative. Exciting developments like TerraformGPT repositories on GitHub are making terraform-first prompts more experience-driven, cutting down the need for manual terraform code or YAML syntax for CI/CD.
  • As AI facilitates job automation, it will open doors for AI engineers specializing in data management. Automated cloud orchestration, big data, IoT, data governance, and cost control in the cloud become their domains.
  • In essence, AI will continue its foray into cloud services, introducing value-additions, new business models (think AI with IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS ), and improved human workflows.
  • Visualizing existing terraform infrastructure will gain importance, as collaborative efforts between ChatGPT, MidJourney, and Terraform make this possible. The future holds the possibility of a Metaverse Architect for the IT world, managing the company's Multi-Meta-Cloud infrastructure.
  • Imagine a future without DevOps, SecOps or FinOps ? With the potential for real-time optimization of carbon footprint, security attacks (infosec ), and inflation costs, the future of cloud infrastructure tools is indeed exciting.?

And yet, let's keep our focus on the practical applications for now.?

AI's role is definitely going to expand, but that doesn't mean it will take over entirely.

AI in the cloud means enhancing existing strategies, not replacing them. If anything, CI/CD pipelines will become more complex, and the role of AI will be to simplify this complexity, turning it into an asset.

The ability to optimize resources, apply smart solutions, detect anomalies, and even identify root causes will transform the way you manage your DevOps infrastructure.

So, let's embrace the future of AI, DevOps, and cloud infrastructure without losing sight of what brought us here in the first place - good old-fashioned human ingenuity and hard work.

Would you like to further delve into the world of AI in DevOps? Or would you prefer to learn more about its potential impact on cloud infrastructure?

Let's talk tech. Picture this: Big tech companies are going all-in on AI.?

WHY??

They want to be the lead trends and become pioneers and champs in their field. But they can afford to have a budget and department for this.

And where does all this cool AI stuff live?? ---- The Cloud!?

Every tech giant is trying to get publishers to exclusively use their AI agents.

It's like a chess match, with each move designed to help them and hinder others. Makes you think, doesn't it?

Through all this, remember one thing:

AI is here to make our lives easier!

A well-optimized CI/CD setup stands out by seamlessly integrating IaC, making proficient handling of IaC a crucial factor in expediting processes related to environments and releases—highlighting its significance in the realm of CI/CD. It's here to turn the tangled web of CI/CD pipelines into something manageable.

But really the engine is people and their experience!

As we embrace IaC, the Cloud, or AI, let's not forget who really doing the hard work that got us to success.?

So, what's next for you??
