I would love to ask...

If only technology could switch on peace of mind! But alas, this command is the holy grail of technology and may just remain wishful thinking. Nonetheless, it works as a great headline, right? Well, it goes a little beyond that and a little more.

On average, we spend almost 7 hrs on-screen time every day. From daily work e-mails to countless notifications; from booking multitudes of services to shopping our hearts out, from endless scrolling on Instagram to that one more episode on Netflix, we are superglued to our screens. It has come down to the fact that not having our mobile in our line of sight gives us FOMO. Technology that is supposed to make our lives easier is actually creating chaos. Then how can the same technology enable our peace of mind? Well, it’s just a question of perspective and what you want to achieve through technology.

On this National Technology Day, I think it’s apt for me to give you a peekaboo on my daily routine and help you understand how technology is helping me switch on peace of mind every single day. And hopefully, some of the nuggets might inspire you as well.

First of all, don’t be surprised when I tell you that I don’t start my day at 6 am with yoga or jogging; that’s not my kind of routine. I wake up at 7.30 am with the sound of chirping birds and not the incessant banging of an alarm clock, thanks to BetterSleep app. After all, it’s not just about which side of the bed you wake up from but how do you wake up. And no, I don’t pick up my phone to read news or emails the moment I wake up. Thanks to DND mode, I keep all notifications silent till 9 am so that I can focus on my family. A nice masala tea and upma on my breakfast table along with my wife is how I spend my morning.

So, the actual work starts from 9am. But even then, I don’t need to worry about going through hundreds of emails to plan my day out. Superhuman is there to save the day. It prioritizes my emails by importance and not by chronology. It reminds me to reply to those I have ignored, not by choice however. It helps me block the calendar the moment I type date and time. Well, list of benefits is long and I am not their brand ambassador but definitely a happy customer who loves it and loves to talk about it. More of it some other time though.

And yes, before I move on for the rest of the day, my wife always reminds me to order something or buy something on my way back to office. Not that I mind it but then why take efforts to go out and waste time when I can simply ask Alexa. Right from a new coffee table that she loves to daily groceries, everything is just a command away. With pre-set up payment mode, I don’t even need to wait for the OTP to finalize the payment.

It's almost 10.30 am by the time I reach office, thanks to Mumbai traffic! And I so wish technology could help me get rid of that too. Anyway, whenever I need to send out some important emails, the helping hand comes in a different form, Wordtune. You must have heard it’s not just about what you say but how you say it. And Wordtune does exactly the same, beside ensuring correct grammar. It helps me with rephrasing the same sentence with a different sentiment. And trust me this has been a game changer for me.

My day has not yet ended but your patience might and I don’t want to test it for sure. Because the list of ways that technology is helping me manage my daily life is quite long and a blog wouldn’t suffice. But in a nutshell, all I can say is technology is just an enabler, how you use it to have more productive, more fulfilling and more enjoyable life is completely up to you. So find the right tools, right technology, or right apps to get peace of mind.

Wordtune sounds interesting, will check it out. Btwn, I was using Grammarly - a great tool as well, if you haven't used it yet.
