No, I won't hold your ladder!

I don't mind helping my guy around the house. I even know how to handle an electric drill, but when he asks me to hold his ladder, I hold my breath.

Somehow, he never asks me to hold a ladder that is standing on stable ground. It is often set on top of rocks or at an unstable angle. 

One of our cypress trees was wedged up against the eves of the house and he stood on this ladder while trying to forcefully wiggle this tree. He slipped a couple of times and I found myself wondering what I should do if he started to fall...I mean, which would cause less damage, landing on me or landing on the ground? How high was his insurance deductible compared to mine?

I had a sigh of relief when he gave up..until he said he was going for a bigger ladder.

At this point I outright refused.

"No, I won't hold your ladder" I really thought I was saving both of our lives..and then I looked up at the tree he was trying to free...here is a pic

 "Why don't we just open the window and dislodge it from there?" I suggested.

He was reluctant, but thought said we could try it..just to prove it impossible (and probably to shut me up.)

5 minutes later the tree was free. It felt like both of our lives had been saved!
