I Won't Complain
Yvonne C. Freeman
I'm a Bible Christian. An author, poet and song writer posting poetry from my books inspired by the written word of God
“Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the Lord? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain." - Proverbs 30:8-9
My eyes have seen the hungry who had very little to eat. I’ve also seen the homeless begging on the streets with no place to sleep. I have known the fatherless – lost – confused with no direction to guide their feet. I won’t complain Lord for I’ve been blessed my circumstances are not as blink.
The burdens I have carried seem minor compared to others. People who work hard every day – short on cash having to choose between buying food or medicine? The sick those in the hospitals, unemployed can’t pay the bills or rent. People are struggling all over the world Lord I won’t complain I still have a roof over my head.
We have all been blessed in one way or another. Many don't realize it because they are too busy focusing on the things they want. Food, clothing and shelter most of us still take that for granted. Try doing without anyone of them for just a short while. Only then will you realize how truly blessed you are. Lord I won’t complain even though I don’t have as much as I would like. I am grateful for what I do have for I know all my blessings came from God.
When I really stopped to think about it what do I have to complain about? There are those who lost all they had in fires, floods and tornados – can you imagine starting your life all over again? There are those who died in airplane crashes, car accidents and suddenly stricken with diseases. Many are still fighting cancer trying to stay alive struggling to survive. I won’t complain Lord for the trials I’ve endured are not nearly as severe as that.
I take no pleasure in witnessing the pain and misery of others. It’s broadcasted daily on the internet and television our brains are saturated with bad news. I pray for God’s mercy and grace to give them hope and strength to get through the trials in their life. When you look at others misfortune you understand how fortunate you are. When you focus on what you have – not that which you don’t – you realize how truly blessed you are.
Dear God I thank you for your love and mercy for food, clothing and shelter – the necessities of life. I won’t complain for I know things could be worse if I don’t pray for your amazing grace.
“In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." - 1 Thessalonians 5:18
