I woke up this morning and realized “Man I don’t feel like working out today”.

But I still walked to the gym and did my first set of deadlifts.

That first set sucked.

Weight that should have been easy to lift felt heavy!

I still didn’t want to work out.

Motivation did not follow action.

But I kept pressing on.

I did a second set of deadlifts.

Awful.

I continued to have zero drive to do my planned workout.

There was this little voice in my head that said it’s ok if you don’t workout today.

Go home.

You’ve been doing this for over a decade.

That’s when I did my 3rd set of deadlifts and decided to ignore that voice.

If you have been training for a while, you’ll have days like this.

I have them.

The clients I work with have them.

Yet we still decide to show up.

It's called discipline.

It’s called being a man.

It’s not about feeling like doing things.

If you only do things you feel like doing …

You end up sitting around with a belly.

Drinking soy milk.

When I don’t feel like doing something – I still do it.

I separate my feelings from my actions.

As a man you do what you’re supposed to do.

Not what you feel like you want to do.

It’s what adults do.

The end.
