I, We, Hit a Milestone!

I, we hit a milestone. It's a small milestone but a milestone nonetheless.

You see, I've spent the majority of my time on the internet over the past decade on Twitter and FB, with the occasional fun on Instagram, Snapchat; and well yea, there was that time on Google+.

"Quick, Hillel. Change the subject before someone reminds you how much you loved Google+!"

Anyway, I've kinda neglected one important network. YouTube. I mean, I spent a lot of time there watching movies, but posting my videos? FB.

But then I started the vlog and I had to address the elephant in the room, so I started embracing YouTube. From scratch. Literally, I had zero traffic there. Very few subscribers.

Well, I just hit 500 subscribers.

The goal is to look back on this post and laugh at how proud I was to hit a measly 500 subscribers. Whoever you 500 are, I love you and if anyone ever calls you measly again, tell them to watch their back!

Having said that, to all the many many people who have said to me over the years "I can't blog/vlog/podcast/tweet/etc. because no one will listen. You had a following when you started!" To whom I responded "Nope. Chicken and egg. I built that audience via my content. When I started blogging, I had zero audience. Start generating content and the traffic will come!" To those people I say now, watch this channel!

I'm literally just getting started from scratch. Can't bring my followers from other places. Well, I mean, I can share the channel elsewhere, which is what I'm doing now, but yea, starting from scratch. Letting the content sell itself.

So if you wanna start something but are worried about the lack of attention it'll get, don't. Start. Build something great. Focus on giving value. People like value. You give, they'll take.

But you gotta start. And after you start and after you fail that first time, that's when the real test happens. Will you continue and be consistent or will you give up? 90% give up.

Be consistent and you'll win. That is all.
