I Wanted To Get Fired!
I was done caring.
I hit this point in my career where everything just... shut down.
→ I hated my job.
→ I hated myself.
→ I hated everything around me.
I’d get irritated over things that made no sense.
→ My tea wasn’t the “right” temperature.
→ Someone’s laugh sounded too loud.
→ A car drove by too slowly.
Looking back, I was burned out beyond reason.
→ My work was suffering.
→ My social life was nonexistent
→ And my relationship was falling apart
I was counting the days, just waiting to get fired.
You might have asked, “Why didn't you just quit?”
Because I felt trapped and couldn't make the decision.
Weirdly, waiting to get fired felt like freedom.
Like someone else could make the decision for me.
When the layoff finally happened, I wasn’t even upset. I was relieved.
What I realized next changed my life:
→ We stay in situations that destroy us just because we’re afraid to leave.
→ We’d rather cling to the familiar misery than face an unknown future.
But burnout taught me this:
Staying stuck is NOT safety—it’s slow self-destruction.
If you’re in a place that’s draining you, maybe it’s time to ask:
What am I really afraid of?
Maybe letting go isn’t a failure.
Maybe it’s the first step toward the life you’ve been waiting for.
What’s one step you’ve taken recently to put yourself first?

3 周Shima Ghaheri Burnout can really show up in the smallest things, can’t it? I’ve definitely had those moments where I found myself overreacting to things that wouldn’t normally bother me. It’s a sign we’re stretched too thin and not giving ourselves the space we need to recharge. The movie Inside Out is so good, too ??
