I want to be a Property Manager......
Considering a career in Multi-Family Real Estate?
Recently, I have been asked by many what it takes to get in, stay in and be successful in my line of work. I thought I would share, what I would say are the top 5 ways to be successful in our business:
1. Passion- performing your role with a purpose, all actions have an outcome and they need to be executed with passion
2. Sense of Urgency- We are working with PEOPLE and PEOPLE require a sense of completion to their desired request. This could be resident's (remember we are handling their home request), associates, vendors, investors, home office team, and more. Put a great deal of stress on completing your task in a timely manner, one that is acceptable to your CUSTOMERS
3. Determination- In an ever growing competitive field, what do you bring to the table? The desire to succeed by determination will go a long way in the day to day operations and overall will make things flow much easier than letting the daily challenges, run your day
4. Compassion- Making money is important (that's why we invest in real-estate), but further being compassionate with your residents and associates is vital in long term success of your vision. Remember an expense of $100 today, may yield $30,000 tomorrow, a missed day of work by an associate due to a family need (and you show compassion), may yield a lifetime commitment to your organization
5. Relationship Building- More than not people forget we are in the business of people. It’s vital that daily, you work to understand the emotional intelligence of every team member, customer, vendor or investor. A lifetime of relationship building will be the largest supporter of your success. This industry is small and no matter how large or far away you leave a relationship, a correlation will always re-surface. Be wise on building partnerships and trust in who you encounter
Good Luck and always be looking at the BIG PICTURE!
