My 100th post (week number 100), featured Salesforce VIPs such as co-founder Parker Harris, MVPs, User Group leaders, and Salesforce veterans. And I want this post to be just as filled with great content, but with real end users, Sys Admins, and Developers. Is that YOU?

In your initial conversations with clients forget technology. Yes you heard right! Focus on learning everything you can about the end user, what they do, what their pain points are and their pie in the sky ideas. Use this as a jumping off pont to explore recommendations and propose solutions. In this way you build the relationship with the client AND you get the requirements right!

Look for more than one option to solve challenges. Be flexible and look for a way to be able to say YES and most importantly remember that Salesforce is usually a 'line of business' tool and so belongs to the end users.

As an Admin learn to say No. I was thinking all the good advices that I could give. But it is more important to protect your systems therefore your NOs are far more important than any yes. Sometimes I had to go all the way to the top to protect but at the end, it's the admin that needs to be respected if he has valid/serious reasons to protect what is working well.

My advice would be to take your time, don't rush to complete filling the relevant information in quickly, it's more time consuming (let alone embarrassing) to correct a mistake than to do it right in the first place! Salesforce is a fantastic tool if you don't rush.
