I Tried These Productivity Apps for You—Here’s What Worked for Me

Let’s be real: navigating our digital lives can be a bit of a circus.

Between the endless notifications and the pressure to stay on top of everything, it’s easy to feel like we’re just treading water. As someone who cares deeply about digital wellbeing, I set out to find productivity apps that help me get things done and support my overall mental health. After trying out several tools, I’ve compiled a list of the ones that truly made a difference in my daily routine.

1. Focus and Distraction Management

  • Forest: This app is a game-changer! You grow a virtual tree while you work, and if you get distracted and leave the app, your tree dies. It sounds silly, but it really keeps me motivated to stay focused. Plus, the visual of a lush forest growing as I work is just rewarding!
  • Focus Todo: I love this combination of a Pomodoro timer and task manager. It breaks my work into manageable chunks, which makes even the toughest tasks feel less daunting. I feel more accountable, and it’s surprisingly satisfying to check off completed tasks.

2. Mood and Well-being Tracking

  • Daylio: This micro-diary has been a revelation for me. I can track my mood and activities without writing a single word, which is perfect for someone who often feels too busy to journal. Seeing the patterns in my emotional wellbeing has helped me understand what truly affects my mood.

3. Document and File Organization

  • Notion: Well, I don't think I need to say much about Notion, you know it, I know it and everyone knows it.

4. Content Consumption and Organization

  • Instapaper: I use Instapaper to save articles I come across during the day. It reformats them into a clean, distraction-free format that makes reading so much easier. It’s become my go-to for curating interesting content without the clutter.

5. Time and Habit Tracking

  • FlowFinitee: Tracking my time and focus has never been easier. FlowFinitee gives me insights into where my time goes, and I’ve been able to identify habits that help—or hinder—my productivity. It’s all about improving my daily routines.

These tools have been transformative for me, helping create a more organized and focused work environment. I encourage you to give them a try and find what resonates with your workflow.
